Sharp Medical Products

Sharp Medical Products, LLC is a United States based company with a main goal of designing, developing and producing high quality practical medical devices for usage throughout the world. Once developed, Sharp is positioned to either (1) manufacturer and commercialize the product or to (2) license the technology to another medical device entity.

Sharp Medical Products, LLC is comprised of a team of experts with more than 40 years expertise in clinical design, manufacturing and distribution of Class I, II and III devices.

Simple oxygen face masks were patented in the 1950s with relatively little improvement in oxygen delivery; the typical mask delivers ~40-50% oxygen even when run at 15 L of oxygen per minute. Sharp Medical Products, LLC (SMP) has redesigned the face mask from virtually the ground up to create the O2MAX®. Several research studies have been performed on O2MAX®. O2MAX® has 9 critical enhancements resulting in oxygen delivery of up to 64% more than market leading masks! This game changing technology has been developed in such a way that O2MAX® will not cost more than other masks to manufacture.

The Reactor®

Placement of a chest tube into the thoracic cavity has been around for more than 100 years with virtually no change in technique! Imagine driving a Model T car today down the highway – would it be as safe, fast, effective and reliable as a modern car at 65 MPH? The Reactor® offers medical professionals a revolutionary way to insert chest tubes into the thoracic cavity. In other words, it is minimally invasive compared to the open technique! Putting this in perspective, how many appendectomies are still done with an open incision?

Product Development

In addition to developing our own internally generated ideas into medical products, Sharp Medical Products, LLC does entertain developing ideas for devices from medical providers. Sharp Medical Products, LLC understands that for the vast majority of medical professionals developing a medical product from idea to commercial production is near herculean in nature and extremely costly. However, we may be able to help!

Everything we do at Athena GTX is based on one simple concept:

Athena is committed to bringing first-class medicine to the patient whether they are down the hall, across town or on the other side of the globe. We relentlessly pursue the most effective and efficient means to achieve this objective through the use of absolute state-of-the art medical and communication technology that is not available off-the-shelf … technology invented and produced right here in Iowa.

WVSM® Tactical Pac

The small size and light weight of the WVSM® (Wireless Vital Signs Monitor) makes it one of the most portable FDA cleared medical monitors on the market. Tactical Pac further enhances this capability by placing two WVSM monitors directly at hand, in any scenario. With WVSM and Tactical Pac you can now monitor multiple patients, on the move, at any time. Tactical Pac is an adaptable MOLLE pouch specifically designed to hold two WVSMs and all accessories, including a centralized monitoring device such as a smart phone.

ADMS allows multiple patients, multiple different medical devices, and wirelessly enabled physiological status monitoring devices to be connected seamlessly. ADMS receives vital signs data from a variety of devices and monitors, accurately communicates the data with color-coded displays, and allows bidirectional control of these devices. ADMS color codes and sorts the alarm status in the standard green when normal range, yellow when low priority and red when high priority alarm.

The WiCap patient monitor can use either the provided medical grade AC power supply or use the internal rechargeable Lithium-Polymer battery. A large color touch screen display shows numeric values and waveforms of measured parameters. Nearly 5 million Americans are currently living with Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)2. Approximately 550,000 new cases are diagnosed in the U.S. each year3. Changes in the ventilatory and circulatory status of the CHF patient will affect CO2 levels sooner than changes in the oxygen saturation.

Agility Technologies

The best business advice received in the fledgling days of Agility Technologies was, “do what you know”.  After spending an accumulated 30+ years in the technical rescue and communications equipment manufacturing business, the decision to focus on developing equipment for people working in hazardous environments was a no brainer.  Agility Technologies was created at the crucible of a kitchen table for the purpose of making a positive difference in the lives of the people we serve.  We want our company to break out of the slow moving corporate equipment manufacturer mold.  We want to be active participants in the Rescue, Military and Industrial communities.  We will remain agile and open to the suggestions of our customers and provide exceptional customer service.

Tactical Medical Solutions

Tactical Medical Solutions® is a global leading developer and manufacturer of pre-hospital medical gear for the tactical and civilian world. We were founded in 2003 by a Special Forces medic who created the SOF® Tactical Tourniquet. Our tourniquet is now one of only two windlass tourniquets approved for use by the Department of Defense, approved for use by the Committee on Tactical Combat Casualty Care, and is the tourniquet of choice for the American Red Cross. While our original purpose was supporting the military, environments changed and TacMed progressed in to servicing law enforcement, fire, EMS, rescue, and now even civilians. As a result, our product line has expanded greatly and is constantly evolving.

The TacMed™ Convertible Drop Leg Kit provides the medic/operator with maximum flexibility without compromising the ability to provide on target care. This drop leg pouch can be worn on the leg or attached to a MOLLE style vest depending on the users’ preference. Tactical Medical Solutions drop leg pouches from are stocked based on different levels of capability. All drop leg med kits can also be custom packed to meet your specific mission requirements.

The SOF® Tourniquet Gen 4 is built upon its original ruggedness and durability, which was the result of an exhaustive 24-month research initiative compiling end-user research and laboratory studies. The tourniquet is comprised of high-strength, lightweight alloy components. Its design allows the tourniquet to slide over a limb or, if the limb is trapped, the tourniquet can be rapidly disconnected and reconnected around the limb without rethreading the strap. With one application method for both the arm and the leg, the Gen 4 is the easiest tourniquet to operate under stress, which can lead to reduced levels of blood loss and ultimately better quality patient care.

The patented C-A-T® is a true one-handed tourniquet proven to be 100% effective by the U.S. Army’s Institute of Surgical Research. Tests proved that the CAT completely occluded blood flow of an extremity in the event of a traumatic wound with significant hemorrhage. The Gen 7 CAT utilizes a durable windlass system with a patented free-moving internal band providing true circumferential pressure to the extremity. Once adequately tightened, bleeding will cease and the windlass is locked into place. A hook and loop windlass retention strap is then applied, securing the windlass to maintain pressure during casualty evacuation. The CAT’s unique dual securing system avoids the use of screws and clips which can become difficult to operate under survival stress or where fine motor skills are compromised.

Introducing the newest bandage in our proven series of Emergency Trauma Dressings (ETD). This ETD consists of a 4 in. resilient elastic wrap with sewn-in extra large 8 x 10 in. sterile non-adherent pad ideal for applying immediate direct pressure to larger areas. Engineered using data from over sixty-three after action reviews (AAR) of real-world battle dressing applications, the 8 x 10 in. ETD also features a durable securing device and innovative Quick-Grip Roll Control configuration which facilitates a rapid, controlled, and extremely effective application process in the most demanding of conditions. The ETD is also suitable for use as a sling and swath for the arm, a secure fastener for an extremity splint or for any other function that requires an elastic wrap.
